Petrol Tax Politics: Centre asks states to bear burden of hike; will CPM and Congress do the same?

In a huge relief for the Aam Aadmi, the centre yesterday announced a total cut of Rs 2.50 on fuel prices. The centre will bear the burden of Rs 1.50 per litre meanwhile OMC's have been asked to absorb a rupee 1 loss. The finance minister further added that state governments will be asked to bear an equivalent burden of Rs 2.50 so that fuel prices can be cut by Rs 5 in total. Several BJP ruled states have also announced cuts but this move hasn't gone down well with the opposition who've launched an all guns blazing attack, calling this nothing but a poll gimmick.
