Justice Ranjan Gogoi sworn in as the 46th Chief Justice of India

Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday was sworn-in as the new Chief Justice of India (CJI) at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is the 46th Chief Justice of the country. Gogoi was administered the oath by President Ram Nath Kovind. CJI Gogoi is the first CJI from the North-East and his tenure will end in November next year. Justice Gogoi has said he wants to focus on dealing with the rising backlog of cases clogging up the courts and providing access to justice to the poor.
