Florida’s Toxic Red Tide Heads East Towards The Atlantic Ocean
  • 6 years ago

The red tide algae that’s plagued Florida’s Gulf Coast has now jumped east to the Atlantic. According to Gizmodo, Florida officials are dubbing it an “extremely rare” occurrence. This is only the eighth time since the 1950s that the algae has been in the state’s Atlantic waters. The last time red tide has ridden the loop current all the way east was about a decade ago.
