Filipina misses flight to Dubai after being duped by swindler at NAIA

A Filipina passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) missed her flight bound for Dubai after being duped by a swindler who withheld her passport.

The suspect, identified as Joseph Pascasio, reportedly introduced himself as an immigration staff at the Terminal 3 of NAIA and asked the female passenger her passport and Php500 cash in exchange of assistance from a travel agency, reported PNA.

Later on, Pascasio asked the passenger to remit Php3,000 to a money remittance center for her passport, which she was unable to do. Due to this, the Filipina has missed her flight and reported the incident to the Airport Police Department.

Following the report, Pascasio was was apprehended on Tuesday, September 25. In his possession was the passenger’s passport and methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in his bag.

According to police officials, Pascasio had been arrested multiple times in the past for duping other passengers at the airport and for being a suspected member of a “saisi gang” in 2016.

Pascasio will be charged with theft, drug possession, and usurpation, authorities said.
