Korean highways jammed amid Chuseok holiday exodus
  • 6 years ago
It's that time of year when families from near and far gather together... to celebrate the five-day holiday Chuseok, or Korean Thanksgiving holiday.
And as they hit the road, there's a mass exodus from the capital region.
The Korea Expressway Corporation projects around 3-point-9-million vehicles to be on the nation's highways on Sunday.
The journey by car from Seoul to the southern port city of Busan is expected to take five-and-a-half hours, which is one-and-a-half hours longer than usual.
To the southwestern city of Gwangju , it's expected to take over four hours,... and to the eastern city of Gangneung , around three hours.
