An employee at a Taco Bell in Hialeah, Florida, has been fired after she refused to serve a customer who spoke to her in English on September 13.A video shared to Facebook by Alexandria Montgomery shows the drive-thru employee (who claims her name is Luisa) telling Montgomery that she doesn’t understand English and therefore cannot serve her.Montgomery then stresses that “that doesn’t make any sense,” and keeps trying to put her order through. The server refuses, and at one point closes the drive-thru window. She then threatens to call the police on Montgomery and calls in other employees who also claim not to have any English.“I understand everyone in Miami doesn’t speak English, and that’s fine, but if she was willing to work with me, I think the outcome would’ve been different,” Montgomery told NBC 6, and also added that the chain offered her a $100 gift card as compensation.According to the same report, Taco Bell said in a statement that the incident “does not meet our customer experience expectations” and that “they have worked quickly to resolve with the customer to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”The video had over 300,000 views at the time of writing.
