Arirang TV, China's Phoenix TV co-host cultural exchange forum in Zaozhuang

Arirang TV, the channel you're watching, has partnered up with China's Phoenix TV to boost their countries' cultural exchanges.
They've just wrapped up a forum on that subject in the Chinese city of Zaozhuang .
Cultural figures from both countries shared their most valued assets,... including the world-renowned Korean musical tradition of pansori.
Choi Si-young was there and filed this report.
At a joint forum recently held by South Korea's Arirang TV and China's Phoenix TV in Zaozhuang, a city in China's Shandong Province, South Korean cultural figures not only performed 'pansori,' a Korean genre of musical storytelling... but also exchanged views on Korean porcelain and Confucianism with their Chinese counterparts.
UNESCO recognizes pansori as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity,... and the pansori singer designated by the South Korean government as a 'living national treasure' drew especially warm applause from the Chinese audience.

"Let this event be an opportunity for Koreans and the Korean media to further sponsor Korean traditional culture."

The journey is a return visit at the invitation of China's Phoenix TV, which visited South Korea in early May to film a six-part documentary on Korean culture that aired in July.

On the sidelines of the forum, Arirang TV signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Culture Promotion Society to organize more periodic cultural exchanges between the two countries.

"Arirang TV is an important media outlet in South Korea, so through Arirang TV, we would like to make Korean and Chinese voices heard."

During the remaining days of their trip, the Korean delegation soaked up China's rich and ancient culture.
They took a guided tour of the Forbidden City, a palace complex in downtown Beijing.
They also visited 'Taierzhuang Ancient Town' located in Zaozhuang, a city in Shandong Province, south of Beijing.

"The prominent Korean cultural figures' visit to Beijing and Shandong Province will also be made into a documentary by China's Phoenix TV and aired across the country. Choi Si-young, Arirang News, Shandong."
