00:00New Year's Day in Persia was the most celebrated day of the year.

00:28All shows were prepared to entertain the king and the prince.

00:33At the end of the program, a lone figure stood before the king with a beautiful horse.

00:38Your Majesty, I beg thee, look upon this wondrous animal.

00:42It is not real, but an ingenious machine that will carry me anywhere I wish, just by turning

00:48a peg.

00:49Well, if true, it is indeed a wonderful animal.

00:52What is the price?

00:53It is not for sale, sire, but I would exchange it for a portion of your kingdom.

00:58Well, for such a trade, I must know more about this horse.

01:02My son, Prince Prama, will test the animal for me.

01:05The owner started to show the prince how to control the horse.

01:08But before he could tell him all, Prince Prama turned the peg, and away he flew.

01:13He doesn't know how to bring it back.

01:16It's a trick to kidnap the prince.

01:17Throw this man in jail until my son returns.

01:21As the horse's owner was taken away, the king scanned the skies for the flying prince, but

01:26he was out of sight.

01:28High above the clouds flew the enchanted horse with the frightened prince.

01:33He traveled hundreds of miles, but he couldn't control the animal.

01:38He twisted the peg, but the horse continued to fly upward and onward.

01:44At last he found a small knob behind the animal's ear.

01:47He gave it a turn, and the enchanted horse started to descend.

01:51As he came closer to earth, the prince saw he was in a strange kingdom.

01:56I will be in danger if I'm found, but I can't control the horse.

02:01The amazing animal carried Prince Prama toward a palace courtyard.

02:05After I land, I'll turn the peg, and maybe it will fly away again, perhaps right back

02:10to my own country.

02:12So intent was the prince on the controls that he didn't watch the archway through which

02:17the horse flew.

02:19He was knocked off the horse into a courtyard.

02:23No one saw him, and while everyone crowded about the mysterious horse, Prince Prama hid

02:28in a room.

02:29After studying the horse, the king gave out an order.

02:33This is a most unusual animal.

02:35I shall give it as a gift to Princess Serena.

02:39Perhaps then she'll be my bride.

02:41Take the animal to the stable until I'm ready to give it to her.

02:44Prince Prama could hear the king's orders, and now he realized his chance of escaping

02:48was gone.

02:51Then he heard someone sobbing.

02:53He discovered that he was in the room of Princess Serena.

02:57She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

03:00She looked up and saw the prince staring at her.

03:03Who are you?

03:04I'm Prince Prama.

03:06I come from far away.

03:08Don't let them know I'm here.

03:10Oh, did my father send you to rescue me from King Agmir?

03:13No, but perhaps I can help.

03:16Tell me how you came to this place.

03:18Princess Serena then told Prince Prama the story of how she was captured by the powerful

03:22King Agmir.

03:23She must marry him or be put to death.

03:26I have an idea.

03:28If you pretend to be ill, the king will have to postpone any decision until you're well.

03:34I'll hide out in the city and return when the time is right.

03:38The princess agreed, and she acted as if she were in a trance.

03:43And soon the whole palace was alarmed.

03:46The prince had got to the king about her illness.

03:48Send for the best doctors in the kingdom.

03:50Each doctor who came tried to cure the young girl, and each failed.

03:56King Agmir sent out a call to physicians from other lands.

04:00One day, a strange doctor came to the palace.

04:03I can cure the princess, but I must attend her alone.

04:08When the doctor was alone in the sick girl's room, he spoke to her.

04:12Princess Serena, arise, for it is time for us to leave.

04:17Prince Prama, it is you?

04:19Yes, Serena.

04:20But we must play the game for a while yet.

04:23Now we will see the king.

04:25Sire, you see she is almost cured already.

04:28Now some special unusual gift from you may complete the treatment.

04:34How fortunate.

04:35I have been saving a most unique horse to give to the princess.

04:39So the enchanted horse was brought to the palace.

04:42It's beautiful.

04:44May I sit in the saddle?

04:46Of course, my dear, it's yours.

04:48Prince Prama helped Princess Serena up on the horse.

04:51Then he turned to the king.

04:53You see, sire, she is cured.

04:56Now for my fee.

04:57Of course, good doctor.

04:59What is your wish?

05:00I wish the princess myself.

05:03He jumped behind Serena.

05:04Never.

05:05She is mine.

05:06Guards, seize him.

05:08But the guards gaped in wonder as the horse rose from the floor.

05:12And soared away.

05:15Out over the fields and mountains the prince and princess flew.

05:20After many hours, Prince Prama looked below and saw the palace of his father.

05:24The enchanted horse had brought them home.

05:28The king was delighted to see his lost son and welcomed the princess.

05:32Prince Prama told his father that Serena had consented to be his bride.

05:37The happy king released the owner of the horse and granted him a part of the kingdom

05:42in exchange for the animal.

05:44Later when Prince Prama and Princess Serena were married, the king gave them the mechanical

05:49animal as a wedding gift.

05:51The young people rode away to have many more wonderful adventures with the enchanted horse.
