SsangYong Motor reaches agreement on rehiring fired workers after 9 years
  • 6 years ago
One-hundred-nineteen fired workers at South Korean automaker SsangYong Motor are to be *rehired,... ending a bitter legal battle that has raged on for nine years.
The automaker's management and labor agreed on Friday.... to gradually rehire the fired workers by the first half of 2019.
SsangYong Motor has been locked in a protracted dispute with the workers.... who were let go in 2009 after the company was placed under court receivership.
At that time,... around nine-hundred workers launched a strike at SsangYong's Pyeongtaek plant,.... and those who refused offers of unpaid leave or voluntary retirement were later fired.
