An organization founded by one of Myanmar’s most famous political prisoners and an old ally of Aung San Suu Kyi, called on Wednesday for the release of two Reuters journalists. The journalists were jailed after being found guilty of violating an official secrets law.
Reuters reports that a court found the two Reuters reporters guilty on Monday last week. It jailed them for seven years in a landmark case seen as a test of progress toward democracy in the Southeast Asian country.
