Scarborough On 9/11 Anniversary: Trump Poses A 'Far Graver Threat' To The 'Idea Of America'

Joe Scarborough on Tuesday, a prominent critic of President Trump, again slammed the president.

MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' host Joe Scarborough on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks warned that President Trump poses a "far graver threat" to the "idea of America." "For those of us still believing that Islamic extremists hate America because of the freedoms we guarantee to all people, the gravest threat Trump poses to our national security is the damage done daily to America's image," Scarborough writes in an op-ed published by the Washington Post on Monday. "As the New York Times's Roger Cohen wrote the month after Trump's election, 'America is an idea. Strip freedom, human rights, democracy and the rule of law from what the United States represents to the world and America itself is gutted.'"  On Tuesday's airing of 'Morning Joe,' Scarborough elaborated on what he believes are Trump's more detrimental actions in recent times. They included banning people from entering the U.S. due to their religious beliefs, the president's retweeting of far-right group's anti-Muslim videos, and failure to sufficiently address the violence in Charlottesville.
