Russia's local elections have been tainted by violent demonstrations against President Vladimir Putin's pension reform.
Most of Sunday's protests were organized by opposition leader and most outspoken Putin critic, Alexei Navalny.
Despite the widespread anger over the Kremlin's plan to raise the retirement age, ruling party candidates are expected to win the elections.
