S. Korean intelligence chief Suh Hoon to brief Japan PM on N. Korea visit
  • 6 years ago
The director of South Korea's National Intelligence Agency, Suh Hoon, is due to meet tomorrow with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo... to brief him on his recent visit to North Korea.
Suh left for Tokyo this morning.
It's expected that he'll convey Kim Jong-un's reported willingness to denuclearize and ask for Japan's support in reviving talks between Pyongyang and Washington to that end.
Meanwhile, another top South Korean envoy who visited Kim Jong-un, National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong, is back from Beijing.
He briefed Chinese officials on the Kim Jong-un meeting and agreed with them to work on arranging a summit between Presidents Moon Jae-in and Xi Jinping later this year.
Tomorrow, Chung is due to talk about that Beijing meeting and his North Korea trip ... in a phone call with his U.S. counterpart John Bolton.
