Thousands of South Korean tourists stranded on Japan's quake-hit island of Hokkaido are due back home this weekend after international flights resumed from the island's airports.
Seoul's foreign ministry says it requested cooperation from the relevant Japanese authorities to help the roughly three-and-half-thousand Koreans who had be stuck there since Thursday's six-point-seven magnitude earthquake.
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines added two additional flights each,... on top of their regularly scheduled flights to and from Sapporo.
The foreign ministry also confirmed that no South Korean nationals were killed or injured in the quake.
