Want to Unionize A group of Whole Foods employees are trying
to establish a union for the 85,000+ workforce. The group contains members of
Whole Foods' cross-regional committee. The workers of the Amazon-owned
grocery chain are "concerned of
the direction" of the company. Whole Foods employee letter, via TechCrunch In the 12-month period since Whole Foods
was acquired by Amazon for $13.7 billion,
many changes have been implemented
across nearly 500 stores. The groups' call to action states
that there will "continue to be layoffs
in 2019 and beyond as Amazon aims
to aggressively trim our labor force..." Whole Foods recently provided a
statement about the matter to TechCrunch. Amazon, via TechCrunch Amazon shared a
similar sentiment.
