Researchers have identified a metabolic way to detect autism spectrum disorder in some children. Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder that is prevalent in 1 in 59 children. According to UPI, the discovery potentially paves the way for a biomarker blood test. UC Davis and NeuroPointDX researchers conducted the Children's Autism Metabolome Project. Their blood test was able to detect about 16.7% of children with autism spectrum disorder.
