Another day and another cash-in-transit heist - this time suspects were filmed while in the act, in Mpumalanga.

G4S Cash Solutions told News24 that one of their armoured vehicles came under attack on Saturday September 1, while performing a cash collection service in Emoyeni.

Police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili said the incident happened at 13:30.

She told News24 that an unknown number of suspects opened fire at the armoured vehicle, bringing it to a standstill.

"The suspects held the security guards at gunpoint and the vehicle was blown up, using explosives," Muridili said.

The suspects fled the scene in three vehicles and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A group of people subsequently descended on the damaged truck, attempting to loot some of the leftover spoils.

Muridili said none of the looters were arrested.

She condemned their behaviour in no uncertain terms.

"It contaminates the crime scene which makes it difficult or almost impossible for the crime scene management to recover evidence," Muridili said.
