Facebook & Twitter Admit To Failures While Warning Of More Threats To Elections

Facebook and Twitter executives testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday. The companies openly acknowledged their past failures while touting new efforts to combat state-sponsored propaganda across their platforms. Gizmodo reported that Facebook’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, acknowledged that Facebook had been “too slow to act” in the 2016 elections. Sandberg noted that Facebook has increased its security and communications staff to 20,000 people.
