5 men arrested for plotting murder of Hindu leader at Coimbatore

5 men arrested by cops at Coimbatore stating that they plotted to kill pro-Hindu leader. Coimbatore police detained Ashiq, Samsudeen,Jaffer Sadiq Ali, Ismail and Salavudeen on 1st of September after being tipped of a murder plot. Cops claim that the 5 men were monitored and it was discovered that they had plotted to kill Arjum Sampath leader of Hindu Makkal Katchi on or before Ganesh Chaturthi as he was constantly criticising Islam and to cause havoc. Police also stated that Ismail is a sympathiser of ISIS and had a sticker on his vehicle 'Islamic State of India and Kashmir'. Fir under sections 143, 120(B), Sections 15,16,18 and 28 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 against the 5. Police have also recovered 5 sickles from the suspects. Coimbatore faced a riot situation back in 2016 after pro-Hindu leader Sasikumar and activist Farooq were murdered Islam fundemantists. All 5 accused have been remanded udner judicial custody until 4th September and sent to Coimbatore Central prison.
