The #VijaySethupathi, #Trisha Krishnan-starrer 96 has been generating a lot of buzz ever since the single Kaathalae Kaathalae was released last month.

Now the trailer for the movie has been released and it seems like a take on a love story that begins at school. The trailer introduces us to a young Ram (Vijay Sethupathi) and Janu (Trisha Krishnan) at school. There seems to be unrequited love, teenage longing and much more.

The rest of the trailer jumps back and forth in time, between the school-era and present-day Ram and Janu meeting again. The school year is ‘96, and hence the title.

There is also tension in the air that is so thick you could cut it with a knife, and portrayed by Devadarshini and Bagavathy Perumal, friends of the leads.

The movie also marks the comeback of veteran actor Janagaraj.

The film, directed by C. Prem Kumar, is expected to hit the screens soon.

#96 is an Indian Tamil-language romance film written and directed by C. Prem Kumar who earlier handled the cinematography for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, the film features #VijaySethupathi and #Trisha Krishnan in the lead role and the film is bankrolled by Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises. The music for the film is composed by Govind Vasantha, who is currently working in Balaji Tharaneetharan’s Oru Pakka Kathai and N. Shanmuga Sundaram is doing the cinematography.
