Andi Traynor and Max Montgomery were training together in California for a marathon paddleboard event in New York on October 21, 2017, when Montgomery collapsed on the beach in cardiac arrest. Traynor, a doctor, went into action.Traynor gave Montgomery CPR until paramedics arrived. Montgomery had no heartbeat for 17 minutes, and it took six defibrillator shocks to get his heart going again. But it did, and Traynor and Montgomery – now a couple – laughingly call those tense moments their first kiss. They have started an organization, Paddle 4 Good, to give back to the community.Alexander Baker had been on the beach in Capitola that day, filming gulls. Traynor and Montgomery walked directly into the center of his frame, where Montgomery collapsed. This timelapse shows the entire incident. Credit: Alexander Baker via Storyful
