Pres. Moon given IOC's highest award for successfully hosting PyeongChang Winter Olympics

President Moon Jae-in is given the IOC's highest honors for his contributions in making the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games a success.
He becomes the seventh South Korean to receive the International Olympic Committee's gold order.
The award was personally delivered by IOC President Thomas Bach.
The 2018 games is seen by many, as the start of a detente with North Korea... because it was attended by high-level officials and athletes from the regime,... ultimately opening the door for closer ties with Pyongyang in terms of both sports and diplomacy.
