"Unity is what defines a team's strength in getting through the hardest times in life. The Futsal team have made it look easy but it has by no means felt easy. Credit has to go to the families of those on the court in yellow for having allowed them to become the player they are today. The players and the coaches have fought through countless hurdles with the goal to make Gibraltar proud by raising the flag in UEFA.
Today, I walked into that changing room just before the game and saw a team of warriors letting each other know "I have your back and it's okay to make mistakes so give it your all and always support your teammates". Words of motivation topped off by the coaches wonderful selection of background music from Ludovico Einaudi as seen in the video, literally brought tears of joy to my eyes knowing that this team will fight until the end. The win was only fair as we had overperformed all season and it wouldn't be right to see it taken away from us in a playoff, which I disagree with due to the size of our league.
It's a real shame the Futsal is not given the attention it deserves in Gibraltar when in reality it is the holy grail to Football. The greatest players like Neymar, Coutinho and even Ronaldhino came through the ranks of Futsal. Our dream is to see Futsal introduced to the youth and the female audience.
People talk about pressure..... Pressure is looking for a job or maintaining your family but when it comes to supporting this team, believing in these men, maintaining that winning spirit or playing the UEFA competition... I don't call that pressure, I call that an honor.
The club will be honoring the Futsal's achievement at a private function held at the Club and giving them the credit they deserve. I am forever grateful to see them play under Lynx and hope to see them all next season with higher expectations and of course the attention they rightfully deserve.
