Bhima Koregaon violence: Activists arrested ‘under government pressure’, says activist’s wife

On Tuesday, the Pune police arrested at least five activists from various cities across India in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence. Varnon Gonsalves was also arrested following the multi city raid. His wife, advocate Susan Gonsalves says that the raids were conducted “under government's pressure.”



At least nine activists, who are said to have links with Maoists were arrested following the raids. Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, Vernon Gonsalves, Gautam Navlakha and Sudha Bharadwaj are the names of other activists who have been arrested in connection with a probe based on the investigation into the Bhima Koregaon violence.
