#AMMayhem EARTHQUAKE ROCKS SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN
A powerful earthquake that shook eastern Venezuela was also felt in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and other Caribbean islands at approximately 5.30 pm. yesterday.
The U.S. Geological Survey put the magnitude of Tuesday's quake at 7.3 and said it had a depth of 76 miles. Its epicentre was 12 miles (20 kilometres) northwest of Yaguaraparo, Venezuela.
Locally, the quake sent persons in SVG into a panic. Persons gathered at the Murray’s Height Hotel in McKies Hill for the Carnival Development Corporation’s (CDC) prize giving ceremony hurried from the building in a panic spurred by the incessant shaking.
