U.S. 'looking into' whether inter-Korean liaison office will violate int'l sanctions

The U.S. State Department have said that they will be looking into whether South Korea's plans to open a joint liaison office in North Korea would be a violation of UN sanctions.
At a State Department press briefing on Thursday, when asked about concerns over Seoul supplying oil and electricity for the office, spokesperson Heather Nauert said that Washington were aware of talks between the two Koreas and would be looked into further.
She highlighted comments made by President Moon where he said improvement of inter-Korean relations cannot advance separately from resolving North Korea's nuclear program.
South Korea's foreign ministry on Thursday said they would be moving ahead with the liaison office, saying it will provide no economic gain to the regime, and that they are in close consultation with the U.S. to not undermine sanctions.
