Kerala Floods: India refuses to accept an assistance from Thailand for re-building the state

As the state of Kerala rebuilds itself after massive floods ravaged the state and left scores displaced. The centre has maintained that it will not accept any foreign aid for the flood hit state. Thailand has confirmed that India has refused to accept any assistance. Sources also say that India has turned down Rs 700 cr aid promised by UAE. India has not been accepting foreign aid money since 2004. In the past 14 years, India has refused aid from Russia, US and Japan for Uttarakhand floods in 2013, and for the Kashmir earthquake in 2005 and floods in Kashmir in 2014. While PM Modi announced Rs 500 crore for Kerala floods & Rajnath Singh offered Rs 100 crore more; Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan says that in reality the loss at around Rs 19,512 crore.
