‘LHHATL’ Star Tokyo Vanity’s Sobbing 11-Year-Old Niece Is Pulled Out Class For Wearing Braids

The first day of school turned into a humiliating nightmare for one Louisiana girl on Monday.
In a video posted to social media, the niece of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Tokyo Vanity was shown being reprimanded in front of her classmates. She was then forced to leave class as her family did their best to comfort her. The traumatizing events occurred all because her natural hair was in braids!
According to the child’s brother Steven Fennidy who shared the video on his Facebook, she has attended Christ The King Parish School for two years and her hairstyles had never been a problem before.
In the video’s caption he wrote, “I hate that I have to post this. But this just isn’t right. This is an issue we tried to resolve with the school, but they won’t compromise at all. My sister Faith and many little black girls wear extensions.”
He then explained that “over the summer the school has sneakily added in a policy that no extensions, clip-ins or weaves are allowed.”
In an effort to get others to share the video and spread awareness of this growing problem, he highlighted that the school’s decision is noticeably skewed and will “affect black children more than white children.”
Since the video was uploaded to social media, it has already been viewed over 430,000 times. Rapper T.I., activist Shaun King, and Tokyo Vanity herself, have also shared the upsetting video with their sizable social media followings.
On his Instagram post T.I. wrote, “This young lady is beautiful and her hair is perfectly fine. Unless of course, you have an issue with black people’s hair in general? Or is it that you intended to publicly ostracize & humiliate these young ladies so they’d be ashamed of who they are and how they look.”
The school has since completely wiped their Facebook page.
