First lady Melania Trump faced a great deal of criticism for wearing a jacket emblazoned with the words, "I Really Don't Care, Do U?" during her visit to a Texas immigration center housing undocumented children. She never explained why she opted to wear that garment, but the New York Times recently revealed a plausible explanation.  In its profile of the first lady, the publication reports that a "person close to" her said, "the jacket was actually directed at anyone — both outside and inside the White House — who wanted to criticize her decision to visit the children in light of the administration's aggressive immigration policies." Other explanations offered thus far include President Trump's assertion that Melania Trump was speaking out against the media and her office insisting that the jacket held no meaning at all.  More recently, former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman suggested in her book "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House" that the jacket was aimed at the president.  Omarosa wrote: "She wore that jacket to hurt Trump, setting off a controversy that he would have to fix, prolonging the conversation about the administration's insensitivity."
