Cars underwater as severe flash flooding hits Pennsylvania
  • 6 years ago
Flash floods slammed towns across central and northeastern Pennsylvania on August 13, turning roads into rivers and causing widespread structural damage.

In Tremont, one of the hardest hit boroughs, rescuers picked up people in rafts and rescued passengers in cars trapped on flooded roads.

This video, filmed by Tremont resident Theresa Becher, shows cars almost completely submerged by the floodwaters.

Heavy rains wreaked havoc across Pennsylvania that day, closing down a busy interstate and flooding houses. Authorities said the latest downpours followed weeks of a stalled weather pattern that is drawing moisture from the Atlantic Ocean, hitting some communities repeatedly.
