The Ministry of Environment announced a Special Act, which passed through parliament last month and will kick in from February next year.
Thanks to the changes, fine dust issues will be more efficiently dealt with by city and provincial governers in the nation.
They will be able to either restrict the use of cars, request to limit the operating hours of facilities emitting air pollution, or urge businesses to temporarily close or work flexibly... when the daily average fine dust density tops 50 micrograms per cubic meter.
In addition, the ministry will set up a National Fine Dust Information Center to increase the reliability of information and stats related to fine dust.
