Scary moment king cobra comes face-to-face with handler

This was the moment a demonstration threatened to go awfully wrong as a king cobra tried to take a swipe at a handler.

King Cobra, one of the world’s deadliest snakes, can kill even an adult elephant with a single bite.

The demonstration followed the script until someone in the audience starting clicking photos. The shutter sound drew the attention of the snake, which turned back, and almost came face to face with the Vava Suresh, a well-known snake rescuer in Kerala, India.

Suresh managed to dodge the snake and angrily asked the crowd to stop using their mobile cameras.

A family in a village in Kollam district spotted a 12-feet long cobra in their backyard last month. They called Suresh, who came and caught the eight-year-old female snake.

After rescuing snakes Suresh usually likes to pose with them. At Kollam, as he said he was happy to rescue the snake, someone clicked a photo from behind triggering a response from the snake.

Suresh managed to control the crowd better and finish his demo before taking away the snake to release it at a nearby forest.

Animal rights activists slam Suresh saying posing with snakes amounts to torturing them.

But many also support him saying he is spreading awareness about these feared and misunderstood reptiles, which are listed as endangered species.
