Tourist films hotel damage following Indonesia earthquake

This is the moment a group of tourists return to their hotel in Bali after an earthquake hit the area on the night of August 5.

The footage, captured today (August 6), shows hotel staff and tourists re-entering a hotel surrounded by debris in search for personal belongings.

The filmer writes: ''We had to flee our building last night during the earthquake as debris was falling around us and the whole building was shaking.

''People were screaming tsunami and so we leapt into a passing truck and headed for the hills. Other tourists jumped into the truck as we slowed at nearby villages.

''We stayed in a guest house and just returned to find our hotel surrounded by debris today.''

My husband managed to re-enter the building today and collect some of our stuff but it’s really dangerous now.

The quake caused over 90 casualties, with the death toll still rising as rescue crews expand their efforts.

Many of the fatalities occurred as a result of debris falling from houses that had collapsed in the earthquake, according to the BNBP, the country's national disaster mitigation agency.
