Minor opposition Party for Democracy and Peace to elect new chair

The minor opposition Party for Democracy and Peace is holding a national convention to elect a new chair on this Sunday.
Six candidates are running in the race,... including four-term lawmaker Chung Dong-young,... three-term lawmaker You Sung-yop and first-term lawmaker Choi Gyung-hwan.
The candidate who wins the most votes will become the party chair,... while the four runners up will become members of the liberal party's decision-making supreme council.
The new chair will have a number of big tasks -- including propping up the party's lagging approval rating,... as well as coming up with ways to make the party's voice heard in the National Assembly as it only holds 14 of 299 seats in parliament.

At a national convention held Sunday,... he won a six-way race, getting the most votes.
The calculation is based 90 percent on the votes of party members... and 10 percent on a poll of the general public carried out earlier this week.
The four runners up become members of the liberal party's decision-making supreme council.
