It was a good outing for India on Day 1 of the first Test against England at Edgbaston as the hosts finished on 285/9. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow scored half centuries before Ravichandran Ashwin & Co dominated the final session to bring India back into the encounter. Mohammed Shami, who was making his return to the team following off-field controversies, took two wickets and was present in the post-match press conference for India. For England, Keaton Jennings came to the media conference.
