The 100,000-acre Carr fire has has been called California's seventh most destructive wildfire, having killed six people and destroyed almost 1,000 structures.

This video, filmed by Shasta County resident Mike Daly, shows him driving through the Keswick neighbourhood on July 30. As he navigates past burned trees and blackened ground, he points out spots where homes used to stand.

"Everything I see on this corner of Keswick Dam Road is gone," he says.

He gets out of his car briefly at a mobile home park, surveying the debris and charred vehicles on the land.

As of Tuesday night local time, the fire was 23% contained. Nearly 40,000 people have been evacuated from their homes since the fire started burning last week.
