Inside the Casting for John Elliott Fall 2018 NYFW Show
  • 6 years ago
John Elliott presented his most eclectic collection for the Fall/Winter 2018 season this past February for New York Fashion Week. The cold-season range blended casual essentials with formal garments while keeping in mind the label's signature sporty aesthetic. Collectively, the takes on contemporary menswear and womenswear were as diverse as the cast of models who paraded down the runway.

“We want a diverse, mixed casting that feels really fresh and sophisticated yet with the right balance and a little bit of edge,” said stylist Karen Kaiser. “When I see each model, I look for a particular character, energy, or spark.” The designer echoed the sentiment, but on a more physical level. “I really think it’s everything from the way someone walks to their hair color, eye color, and skin tone. Every once in a while it’s really cool to juxtapose somebody who might not, in real life, wear something. For the most part, you always want it to be believable,” said Elliott.
