Reclaim Your Love: A Preview of the GUESS Originals x A$AP Rocky Collection Presented by HBTV

A time many consider to be the golden era of hip-hop, the late ’80s and early ’90s saw the explosion of a global phenomena we now call streetwear. Spanning from New York to Los Angeles, this brilliantly resourceful subculture laid claim to luxury fashion houses and designer brands alike, repurposing their rich history and high-end aesthetics for the concrete jungle that engulfed them. One of the first brands accepted by hip-hop’s unapologetic artists was a young and blossoming American brand by the name of GUESS.

The Los Angeles based brand quickly made a name for itself due to its premium denim adorned with the simple, yet very recognizable triangle emblem and question mark motif. It wasn’t before long that GUESS found its way into rap videos and urban cinema, creating a newfound trend within the world of hip-hop. However, many of those unforgettable designs have been frozen in time … until now. Thanks to the upcoming GUESS Originals x A$AP Rocky collaboration, you can finally recreate those iconic looks.

Reliving street fashion’s infant, albeit golden years, the above video, narrated by none other than Rocky himself, follows a group of rebellious youths seeking a nostalgic fix. Feeding their curiosity, the troop gets together and ends up crashing a huge warehouse, stumbling upon the soon-to-be-released GUE$$ capsule which includes pieces that pay homage to early ’90s hip-hop influences.

Within the range you’ll find pieces that add a contemporary edge to classic GUESS styles. The men’s collection features an oversized denim bomber jacket with large pocket detailing, tailored denim overalls, striped T-shirts, and hoodies. The women’s offering includes a reversible denim parka, an oversized denim jacket with striped paneling, acid wash denim shorts, classic overalls, and vintage-inspired skinny jeans.

The GUESS Originals x A$AP Rocky collection will be available globally in exclusive boutiques on January 30 and select GUESS stores in February.
