Some 40 hectares of forest burn in South Sumatra, Indonesia, emitting vast plumes of smoke.

Helicopters have been dumping water on the ever-expanding flames as the area, in Musi Banyuasin Regency, is difficult to reach by land.

The 2018 Asian Games are fast approaching, bolstering the country's efforts to tackle forest fires which often choke the country during dry season (June-October), an official told Reuters in April.
