Elephant that can paint in Japan is hugely popular
- 6 years ago
This elephant in Japan was trained how to paint from a young age – and is now hugely popular.
Yumeka, a ten-year-old Asian elephant from Elephant Kingdom in Chiba prefecture, draws in crowds to see her create her masterpieces.
Footage shows Yumeka at her temporary home in Okinawa – where she will give birth.
She skillfully creates a painting of a Cherry Blossom tree, much to the amazement of zoo guests.
Still images and archive footage also shows the long road Yumeka took to become a beloved painter.
She has had the same trainer since she was young and has formed a strong bond with him – something the owner of Elephant Kingdom credits as a reason for Yumeka's artistic ability.
The footage was captured on March 21.
