'Hamilton' Coming to a
Movie Theater Near You? Hollywood studios are reportedly willing to pay as much as $50 million for the movie rights to a recorded live performance of the Broadway hit. The recording of the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical was made in 2016 before Miranda left the cast. Miranda helmed the book and wrote the lyrics and music to incorporate mixes of different genres, like Hip-Hop and R&B. He also has two feet in Hollywood, having composed the score for Moana, which garnered him an Oscar nomination. A full movie version of his first musical, 'In the Heights,' is set for a Warner Bros. release in June of 2020. Miranda just announced that he will make his film directorial debut with the musical Tick, Tick… Boom. Sellers for the recording of 'Hamilton' request for it not to be distributed or available for streaming until 2020
