Mahakali — Anth Hi Aarambh Hai (English: Mahakali - The end marks the beginning) is a Hindi mythological television show, that airs on Colors TV.

The main protagonist of the show is the Hindu Goddess Parvati and her alter ego, Mahakali. The show’s plot is loosely based on the events of the Hindu Scriptutre Devi Mahatmyam, with the writers creatively fleshing out emotions, drama and interconnected storylines to establish a continuity set within the Hindu mythological universe. Mahakali’s plot also adapts stories from other famous Shakta and Shaiva texts like the Kalika Purana, Devi-Bhagavata, Shiva Purana and Linga Purana, that have to do with the evolution of the sweet and submissive Parvati into the wild and untamed Mahakali.

Pooja Sharma plays the role of the titular characters, Parvati and Mahakali.[1] Saurabh Raj Jain effortlessly essays the role of Lord Shiva and Meghan Jadhav plays the role of Kartikey.

The show was conceived by Siddharth Kumar Tewary of Swastik Productions who is known for successful shows of the same genre, like Mahabharat, Suryaputra Karn and Shani etc.[2]

In India’s long history of Mythology-based shows, this is the first ever to be entirely based on Goddess Kali showcasing her impact on the Hindu religion. Mahakali’s story has an undertone of female empowerment and gives out a message to all women that they need to find their own inner strength and must not depend on men, irrespective of their relationships to them, and should therefore be able to fight for themselves and tackle their own problems without the need for a man. Goddess Kali is more or less portrayed as the inner warrior within every woman who manifests when the world taunts her.
