Every year, 1300 children get bitten by snakes in the US. Snakebites are most frequent in Texas and Florida. Dr. Joann Schultz, a medical epidemiologist who is studying this epidemic, states, “Any venomous snake can be dangerous with neurotoxic complications and problems with blood clotting. Some children do die, and delays in treatment can be one reason.”
