ADHD in Teens Linked to Screen Time in New Study According to the study published in the medical journal JAMA, the more teens check social media and stream video, the more likely they might develop symptoms of ADHD. The study sheds light on the need for more research to determine whether symptoms of ADHD are caused by digital media use. ADHD stands for attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder. Symptoms include inattention, hyperactivity, restlessness or
severe impulsivity. The new study involved 2,587 students in Los Angeles County, CA. On average, 10.5% of the students who reported engaging in 14 digital media activities a day reported ADHD symptoms. Only 4.6% of the students who reported not engaging in any of the digital media activities also reported ADHD symptoms.
