Starbucks to Open Location Where All Employees Use Sign Language
  • 6 years ago
Starbucks to Open Location Where All Employees Use Sign Language In October, Starbucks will open its first U.S. cafe staffed completely with employees who use American Sign Language. The chain will convert an existing Starbucks location in Washington, D.C.into what it calls a "Signing Store." Starbucks will search across the country and hire 20 to 25 people to work in the store. Deaf baristas at the store will wear ASL aprons and hearing baristas who sign will have "I Sign" pins. The coffee shop also will boast special deaf-friendly features, like low-glare reflective surfaces. The Seattle-based coffee chain's first signing store opened in Malaysia in 2016.
