South Korea's Navy welcomed its new leader.
Admiral Sim Seung-seob,... is now the Chief of Naval Operations.
The inauguration ceremony was held Thursday afternoon at the Gyeryongdae... military headquarters.
Among the key figures attending the ceremony was defense chief Song Young-moo.
In his inaugural address, Admiral Sim... stressed the Korean peninsula now faces a great transformational period towards peace and prosperity,.. and vowed to maintain staunch naval military preparedness to strongly support national policies.
He replaces Admiral Um Hyun-seong... who served as the Chief of Naval Operations since 2016.
Minister Song meanwhile, emphasized that the role of a strong Navy is all the more important in current times,.. to defend maritime sovereignty,.. while promoting peace and security in Northeast Asia and the world.
