Searing heat shows no sign of easing up

In fact, East Asia is not the only part of the world having a hotter than average summer this year. Summer heatwaves have been breaking records across the Northern Hemisphere.
For more,... let's connect to our Lee Jee-hyun at the weather center.
Jee-hyun, parts of the U.S, Canada and Europe are also having a harsh summer I hear?

Good morning. Montreal in Canada had its highest temperatures in 147 years a couple of weeks ago,... and Britain is sweltering under a July heatwave as well.

The summer of 2018 is shaping up to be one for the record books across the globe. As for South Korea, burning sunshine and high humidity will make it feel even hotter than the actual temperatures today.

Heat wave alerts have been issued for five consecutive days in Seoul,... and have been issued for more than a week for the southern provinces... and it's more likely we'll be under heat alerts for the time being.

This afternoon, Seoul will get up to 34 degrees Celsius, Gwangju 36, Daegu and Gyeongju at 37 degrees.

Strong UV rays can burn your skin in just a few minutes so apply a good amount of sunblock and stay hydrated.

The heatwave shows no sign of easing up. Starting this weekend, Seoul will see highs hovering around 35 degrees Celsius.

That's all for now, but I will have more updates in our later newscast.
