Bengaluru legislators and MPs have suggested bringing in a new law for the city's civic body as they all agree that the problems faced by Bengaluru are unique. The new legislation for the BBMP will complement the existing Karnataka municipal corporations act, 1976 that applies to the entire state. Earlier, the B S Patil committee report had suggested dividing Bengaluru into five administrative blocks. Deputy CM G Parameshwara said the proposed act would not come in its way. G parameshwara, who is also the Bengaluru development minister has said that even if 5 administrative blocks were to be carved out of the BBMP, they will be governed by the new law.
