Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar, known for films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Toilet Ek Prem Katha, celebrated her birthday on the night of Tuesday. She turned 29 on Wednesday. Celebrities like Varun Dhawan and Vaani Kapoor attended her birthday celebrations. Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan and his wife were also present at the event. Bhumi debuted in Bollywood with Dum Laga Ke Haisha directed by Sharat Kataria. She played an overweight school teacher in the film who is craving for love from her husband, played by Ayushmann Khurrana. It turned out to be a sleeper hit for the producers, Yash Raj Films. Her second film, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, saw her opposite Akshay Kumar. It also struck gold at the box office.
She returned to work with Ayushmann in 2017 film Shubh Mangal Saawdhaan. Directed by RS Prasanna, it raised important concerns about sexual health in the Indian society. Netflix film Lust Stories is her latest project. She played a domestic help who falls in love with her employer in the film. In one of her interviews to the Hindustan Times, she said, “Whenever I hear the narration for a new film, I have this process back home where my mother reads all my scripts. I don’t say yes [to any project] till I get a yes from my mum. If not as much for a moral ground checking, she’s a very intelligent woman and I really take what she says seriously. So far, she has loved my work.” She will soon be seen in Sonchiriya along with Sushant Singh Rajput
