Kasganj : Dalit’s marriage procession takes place amidst police protection | Oneindia News

Members of Dalit community were excited and happy in Kaganj’s Nizampur village as they witnessed marriage procession from their community after 80 years. The marriage procession took place among heavy police protection. The protection was needed as the couple received threats from members of upper cast community. On the issue the bride said, “I am very happy but also scared at the same time as members of Swarn samaj are trying to create ruckus in our marriage ceremony. We were getting threats from them, but the administration is helping us. We had to face lot of difficulties.” However, Pavitra Mohan Tripathi, Addl. Superintendent of Police, said, “There was no problem when the procession was being carried out. We have deployed sufficient force till the wedding ends. Our personnel will be alert in the village even after the wedding so that any unforeseen situation can be avoided.”
